The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has officially announced the dates and regulations for the 2025-26 duck hunting season, notably reducing the definition of youth hunters to those aged 15 and under. This adjustment, which impacts the participation of older adolescent hunters, comes alongside a decrease in the September teal season from 16 days to 9 days, highlighting the commission’s efforts to streamline waterfowl hunting regulations.
Among the new provisions, the daily bag limit for Northern pintails has increased significantly, allowing hunters to bag up to three birds instead of just one. Additionally, two special youth and veterans days are scheduled, offering exclusive opportunities for engagement in waterfowl hunting on December 6 and February 7. Full details on the season’s dates and regulations will soon be available in the upcoming regulations digest set for release in August.
