A new hunting blind designed specifically for individuals with disabilities has been unveiled in White Mound County Park, Wisconsin. This 8×10-foot structure features a four-foot wide door to accommodate larger tracked wheelchairs, electric heat, outlets, and lighting, making the outdoor experience accessible and comfortable for those who might otherwise struggle to participate in hunting.
The project, championed by Sauk County Parks & Recreation manager Matt Stieve, has been in the works for nearly 30 years and cost around $8,000 to construct through grants and donations. This initiative not only aims to enhance recreational opportunities for people with disabilities but also addresses the growing deer population in the region, ensuring that all residents can experience Wisconsin’s rich hunting culture. Applications for eligible hunters are now open until March 28.
