A new mobile application, EveryShot, is launched to track gun violence across Tennessee, providing users with detailed data on incidents including homicides, police shootings, and unintentional discharges. As of late March, the app reports 79 gun-related incidents in the state, with Memphis alone accounting for 42 of these occurrences, highlighting the concentrated nature of this troubling issue in urban areas.
The EveryShot tool utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze thousands of media reports, allowing users to filter incidents by various categories such as date, location, and type of shooting. This comprehensive approach aims to provide transparency on gun violence trends, especially pertinent given that Tennessee has recorded a total of 328 gun-related incidents this year, resulting in 115 fatalities and 196 injuries. The app is a vital resource for both residents and policymakers aiming for effective interventions in reducing gun violence.
