Dante Hector, a 28-year-old New Bedford resident, is sentenced to serve four to six-and-a-half years in state prison following a violent robbery and stabbing incident that took place on May 7, 2024. He admitted to attacking a man to steal his backpack, which contained cash, a phone, and a wallet, and subsequently caused damage to the victim’s motorcycle.
Identified through surveillance and cellphone footage, Hector faced serious charges including armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. After his prison term, he will be subject to one year of probation, raising concerns about the impact of such violent crimes on local communities.
