New Hunting Licenses Require Permits for Migratory Birds

Migratory bird hunters in Pennsylvania are reminded to purchase required permits, specifically the Migratory Game Bird License (MGBL), when securing their general hunting licenses. Hunter oversight often leaves them without essential licenses as the season begins, highlighting the importance of timely purchases before the fall hunting season.

In addition to the MGBL, hunters aged 16 and older must also obtain a Federal Waterfowl Stamp, which can be acquired electronically this season. The Pennsylvania Game Commission reports that significant changes include a reduced daily bag limit for Canada geese, reflecting concerns over declining populations. For those looking to stay informed and compliant, licenses and stamps go on sale Monday, and hunters are encouraged to report any banded game they encounter to aid in population management efforts.
