New Hunting Rules Announced for 2025-26 Seasons in WA

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has unveiled updated hunting regulations for the 2025-26 seasons, following extensive public and tribal engagement. Among the key changes, Director Kelly Susewind opted against introducing multi-season tags for deer and elk for federally recognized tribes, while confirming updates for general hunting seasons for deer, elk, and waterfowl, along with special permits for moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats.

In addition, the department is evaluating potential new rules for cougar and black bear hunting, with decisions anticipated by April. This regulatory shift not only affirms the WDFW’s commitment to sustainable wildlife management but also highlights the ongoing dialogue between state agencies and the public regarding hunting practices and conservation efforts. For a comprehensive look at the new rules and the decision-making process, visit the WDFW website.
