Norristown Man Sentenced in Gun Trafficking Case

Christopher Michael McNelly, a 28-year-old from Norristown, is sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in jail for his role in a straw purchase scheme that supplied firearms to a multi-county gun trafficking organization. McNelly, who pleaded guilty to multiple charges, was said to have been driven by drug addiction, revealing that he received drugs as payment for obtaining the firearms.

During his sentencing, Judge Wendy G. Rothstein underscored the dangers of straw purchasing, stating that such actions contribute to increased violent crimes on the streets. The trafficking ring, led by Scott Michael Grondin and Bella Skylar Kenna, is implicated in moving at least 17 firearms, many of which had their serial numbers obliterated to evade law enforcement. McNelly expressed deep regret for his actions, claiming he has turned his life around since his arrest and hopes to regain custody of his young daughter.
