An NYPD officer has been arrested after prosecutors allege that he stored 15 unsecured firearms throughout his Queens home, all potentially within reach of his 15-month-old daughter. Jason McLeod, 37, reportedly kept various guns loaded and scattered across the house, including one on a living room coffee table and several others under his bed and in unlocked drawers.
The alarming discovery followed a call to police from the mother of McLeod’s child, who provided officers with a tour of the premises. Many of the firearms were unregistered, and the officer was charged with endangering a child’s welfare and multiple counts of failing to store weapons safely. Following his arrest, McLeod has been suspended without pay from the department since joining in 2022.
