Odisha’s Illegal Gun Manufacturing Unit Busted

The Odisha Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered an illegal gun manufacturing unit in Bayalis Mouza, Cuttack, seizing over 30 pistols and arresting four suspects linked to the operation. This discovery raises alarming questions about Odisha’s potential emergence as a new hub for illicit firearms production, which poses substantial risks to public safety and national security.

According to STF officials, the arrested individuals possess criminal backgrounds, with one having a murder conviction. The gang reportedly manufactured unfinished firearms using conventional machinery, sourcing raw materials from Cuttack and West Bengal. Investigations are ongoing to determine the scale of their operations and possible connections to organized crime networks.
