Pa. Governor Signs Bill to End Sunday Hunting Ban

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has officially signed a bill that repeals the state’s long-standing Sunday hunting ban, a move that broadens hunting opportunities for residents. The new law, which will take effect in 60 days, aligns with the ongoing deer season and introduces stricter measures to protect private property, addressing prior farmer concerns.

This legislative change marks the end of one of the final remnants of Pennsylvania’s historical “blue laws” and provides families with additional chances to engage in hunting traditions. Governor Shapiro emphasized the law’s benefits for busy hunters, stating that it allows greater flexibility for those working hectic schedules. As the Pennsylvania Game Commission prepares to designate specific Sundays for hunting, the shift also aims to help manage wildlife populations that threaten crops, a priority for the farming community.
