Anthony Michael Figueroa-Marko, 36, is sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in jail for purchasing eight firearms intended for a multi-county gun trafficking network. Appearing before Montgomery County Judge Wendy G. Rothstein, Figueroa-Marko expressed remorse, praying that his involvement does not lead to street violence, and accepted responsibility for the charges he faced, which included selling firearms to those ineligible to possess them.
The gun trafficking organization, orchestrated by Scott Michael Grondin, spanned Montgomery, Delaware, Chester, and Philadelphia counties and was involved in distributing illegal drugs alongside firearms. Law enforcement officials revealed that Grondin had a history of criminal activity that prohibited him from purchasing firearms, yet they allege he orchestrated the acquisition of 17 weapons, only seven of which have been recovered. The operation illustrated the dangers of straw purchasing, where individuals without criminal records are manipulated into purchasing firearms for those who cannot legally obtain them.
