Philadelphia Man Sentenced to 17 Years for Armed Robbery

A Philadelphia man, Willie Singletary, is sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for a violent armed robbery and planning an attempted home invasion. Singletary, also known as “Woo,” will serve this sentence consecutively to a 10 to 30-year state sentence he is already serving for related crimes, highlighting the severity of his actions. During the November 2019 robbery, he and two accomplices threatened and assaulted a laundromat employee, stealing approximately $30,000 in cash intended for renovations.

U.S. Attorney David Metcalf stated that the traumatic experience endured by the victims underscores the serious consequences of such violent offenses. The case, part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative aimed at reducing gun violence, emphasizes a collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement to pursue and convict those responsible for crimes that threaten community safety. This conviction serves as a reminder that justice will be served for those who engage in similar violent acts.
