Chicago police shot a man on Saturday night after he fled from officers while allegedly holding a gun in the 1900 block of North Austin Avenue. Authorities reported that during the pursuit, the man turned towards the officers with the weapon drawn, prompting an officer to fire, hitting him in the legs and hand.
The injured man is in fair condition at Loyola University Medical Center, while one officer has been taken to a hospital for observation. Following the incident, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability is conducting an investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
