Scott Shein, 51, of Laval, and John Papadimitriou, 52, of Saint-Eustache, are charged with smuggling prohibited weapons across the U.S.-Canada border, facing a combined total of 17 criminal charges. The investigation, led by the Canada Border Services Agency, revealed that multiple packages containing illegal items were intercepted at a mail processing center in Mississauga, Ontario, prompting further searches that uncovered additional weapons in the pair’s homes.
Both men are charged with importing prohibited devices and conspiracy, with Shein facing three additional charges and Papadimitriou facing ten more, which include possession of 15 prohibited weapons and improper firearm storage. Their court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, marking a significant crackdown on cross-border smuggling efforts.
