The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has initiated a federal lawsuit against Connecticut’s law that prohibits adults under 21 from purchasing, owning, or carrying handguns. The organization argues that withholding Second Amendment rights based on age constitutes unlawful discrimination, emphasizing that such limitations do not align with the historic understanding of constitutional rights.
Executive Director Adam Kraut noted that this case marks SAF’s tenth lawsuit addressing similar restrictions nationwide, aiming to establish that adults aged 18-20 should not be denied their constitutional rights. The lawsuit, titled “Succow v. Bondi,” is supported by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League and two individuals, underscoring a broader movement challenging age-related firearm restrictions across the United States.
