San Antonio police have identified Matthew Roach as the officer who fatally shot 27-year-old Max Dominguez on Sunday afternoon during an encounter linked to a reported domestic assault. The incident unfolded when officers responded to a call about an ongoing assault, and upon arriving at the scene, Dominguez allegedly brandished a machete after a brief exchange with the officers.
According to reports, Roach, who has served with the SAPD for just one year, fired his weapon multiple times, resulting in Dominguez suffering fatal wounds to the head and chest. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a homicide, and investigations are currently underway by both the shooting team and internal affairs, which will ultimately be reviewed by the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.
