A 24-year-old Springfield man, DeSean L. Franklin, is sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his role in an illegal firearm purchase linked to a Greene County gun show. Franklin, the last of three individuals implicated, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic firearms after admitting to obtaining a semi-automatic pistol despite being prohibited from possessing one.
The investigation revealed Franklin’s association with a local gang, “ODB,” connected to violence and firearm offenses. His involvement came to light when Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents observed him and another accomplice attempting to purchase firearms while under pending criminal charges. With two other defendants already sentenced, the case underscores serious implications surrounding illegal gun sales and gang-related activities in the area.
