Springfield police apprehend 42-year-old Ian James following a high-speed chase that originated from a routine traffic stop on Main Street. The pursuit began after officers received a tip about his whereabouts connected to a May 31 armed robbery, and it escalated as James fled onto I-291, ultimately crashing into two police vehicles.
During the takedown, James attempted to escape on foot but was quickly arrested near a guardrail. He was found in possession of two bags of cocaine and a knife, and while one officer sustained injuries during the chase, he has since been treated and released. James now faces multiple serious charges, including robbery and resisting arrest, as the investigation continues.
