A second grader at Bruce Vento Elementary School in St. Paul was found with an unloaded handgun in his pocket, which he reportedly intended to show his friends. Police were alerted around 11:30 a.m. after a teacher discovered the firearm, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.
St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Toy Vixayvong confirmed that the child did not appear to have planned to use the weapon and emphasized the importance of safe gun storage at home. The police are currently investigating how the child gained access to the gun, raising significant concerns about firearm safety in households with children.
