Sunset Man Gets Nearly 13 Years for Armed Robberies

Bracelon Charles, a 22-year-old from Sunset, receives a nearly 13-year federal prison sentence for his role in armed robberies at convenience stores. Charles and an accomplice brandished firearms during the heists, stealing approximately $800 in total before fleeing to Texas, leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase back into Louisiana.

Acting US Attorney Alexander Van Hook emphasizes the gravity of Charles’s actions, noting he pleaded guilty to using a firearm during a violent crime. The case, investigated by the FBI and local authorities, highlights significant consequences for violent offenses, securing a 12-year and 11-month sentence along with five years of supervised release thereafter.
