Syracuse Gun Buyback Collects 638 Firearms

New York Attorney General Letitia James announces the successful collection of 638 firearms during a recent gun buyback event in Syracuse, highlighting the initiative’s role in addressing gun violence in the state. The haul includes 130 assault weapons, 333 handguns, and two ghost guns, contributing to a total of over 9,000 guns collected since 2019.

Officials, including Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh, praise the buyback as a key component of local strategies to enhance community safety. “Every one of the guns we recovered today was a potential life saved,” James asserts, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts among law enforcement agencies to reduce gun crime in New York.
