A 16-year-old student at Philip Randolph High School is charged with murder after being found with a handgun in his backpack, police reported. This arrest follows an investigation into the shooting death of 34-year-old Christopher Jimenez, who was shot in the chest in a Harlem apartment building lobby on April 17.
Initially, police arrested another suspect in the case, Angel Celpa, who faced lesser charges but was not connected to the murder. The teenager’s arrest came after a school safety officer acted on a tip, leading to the discovery of the firearm. Investigators are now probing the suspect’s possible links to both Jimenez and Celpa, as they seek to piece together the events surrounding the fatal incident.
