These “forced-reset triggers” allow semi-automatic rifles to fire at an increased rate by automating the trigger reset after each shot, leading critics to argue that the approval could lead to more mass shootings. Prominent gun control groups like GIFFORDS and Brady United have condemned the settlement, asserting it enables the distribution of dangerous weapons without adequate regulation, including background checks. The agreement includes stipulations for public safety, but concerns remain about the implications for community safety and gun violence.
