The Tucson Police Department’s Eastside Community Response Team (CRT) has seized multiple guns from a vehicle during a traffic stop, raising concerns about youth access to firearms. The stop occurred around midnight on July 1, 2025, near Craycroft Road and 29th Street, where officers discovered a gun in plain sight and another in the glovebox, accompanied by an extended magazine.
Among the four occupants of the car was a 14-year-old boy who was found with a pistol tucked into his waistband. As a result, two individuals were arrested for being prohibited possessors and for a minor in possession of a firearm. The CRT aims to bolster community safety by mitigating gun violence and addressing illegal drug activity in the area.
