The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have arrested two men from the Montreal area for possession of illegal handguns near the Canadian border. Officers discovered the men while they were attempting to illegally cross into Canada, where they found two loaded handguns, ammunition, and over $2,000 in cash.
Daniel Humberto Perez Ochoa, 36, and Nabil Ammar, 35, have both been charged with multiple firearm offenses and are scheduled to appear in court again soon. This incident highlights a growing concern in Quebec, where authorities reported seizing 308 smuggled firearms from the United States in 2024, including 292 handguns, raising alarm about cross-border gun violence.
