A jury has convicted Max Misch, a 42-year-old man from Bennington, Vermont, for violating the state’s gun magazine capacity laws after he brought an illegal 30-round rifle magazine into the state. This conviction follows a one-day trial where jurors found Misch guilty of two counts of possessing large capacity magazines, underscoring a serious breach of Vermont’s firearm regulations which limit long gun magazines to a maximum of 10 rounds.
Misch, who identifies as a white nationalist, purchased the magazine in New Hampshire back in 2019, and will now face a potential maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $500 fine. Currently released under certain conditions, Misch’s sentencing is set to occur within the next 60 days, making this case a focal point in ongoing discussions about gun laws and public safety in Vermont.
