Jessica Kroening, 37, is sentenced to one month in jail and fined $1,000 for her role in poaching over 100 deer across Fond du Lac, Washington, and Dodge counties. After pleading guilty to charges of illegally shining deer and aiding juvenile offenders, Kroening also faces a three-year suspension of her Department of Natural Resources privileges, according to Washington County Judge Sandra Giernoth, who described the case as one of the most severe violations she’s encountered.
Evidence presented revealed Kroening allegedly facilitated the poaching by allowing her son and others to use her vehicle for illegal nighttime deer hunts. The case also resulted in charges against three minors, including her son, highlighting the severe impact of her actions on Wisconsin’s hunting community.
