In a daring early morning heist, two masked suspects armed with guns stole 33 handguns from the Turlock Gun Show at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. Just before dawn on Sunday, security guards were taken by surprise when the intruders confronted them, allowing the suspects to make their escape after crawling through a hole in the gate.
Despite an immediate response from local law enforcement, including drones and K9 units, the suspects vanished without a trace. This incident adds to a troubling trend of significant thefts at events in the same venue, following a previous robbery where nearly half a million dollars worth of gems and jewelry was stolen. Authorities are now collaborating with federal agencies to track the stolen firearms via the Automated Firearms System, raising concerns about their potential circulation.
