Gun Owners Reach Historic Settlement with ATF and DOJ

In a landmark decision, gun rights groups have reached a historic settlement with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regarding Forced Reset Trigger (FRT) devices. Under the agreement, the Trump administration will drop pending lawsuits from the Biden era and will also return all seized FRT devices to their owners, provided requests are made by September 30, 2025.

This pivotal settlement not only ends ongoing legal battles but also sets a precedent for future interactions between federal agencies and gun owners. Leaders from the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) hailed the outcome as a significant victory for gun rights, stating it marks a new era of accountability for the DOJ and ATF. Instructions for how owners can reclaim their devices will be posted on the ATF’s website shortly.
