Alton Man Charged with Armed Robbery at Dollar General

An Alton man, Curtis S. McTizic, is charged with armed robbery after allegedly threatening a Dollar General employee with a knife while stealing items from the store. The incident occurred on June 21, 2025, when McTizic, 57, reportedly brandished a knife while stating, “I’m going to kill you,” before fleeing the scene with stolen goods.

McTizic’s extensive criminal history includes various felonies, and he was already on pretrial release for two prior retail theft charges at the time of this incident. As he remains in custody at the Madison County Jail, a petition has been filed to deny his release before trial, highlighting the severity of his actions and previous convictions.
