Armed Robberies Strike Online Sellers in Waterbury

The Waterbury Police Department is currently investigating a troubling series of armed robberies that target individuals selling electronics through Facebook Marketplace. Three incidents occurred within a week in the Fiske Street area, where victims were lured to locations under false pretenses of completing sales involving items like an iPad and an iPhone. In each case, sellers reported being confronted by suspects who either threatened them or displayed a firearm, raising concerns about safety for online transactions.

No injuries have been reported so far, but police are urging residents to take precautions when meeting strangers for sales. Recommended safety measures include using designated police-safe exchange zones, avoiding secluded locations, and bringing a friend when possible. The police are actively seeking information and encourage anyone with details about these robberies to contact the Waterbury Police Detective Division or CRIME STOPPERS.
