A 31-year-old man, Michael Monheit, faces serious charges after attempting to enter the Stonewall Pride Parade in Wilton Manors with a loaded firearm. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at an east security checkpoint, where enhanced measures, including metal detectors, are enforced to ensure the safety of attendees.
Monheit triggered the metal detector alarm and disregarded multiple commands from security personnel to stop. Officers detained him, uncovering a loaded firearm along with additional loaded magazines. Wilton Manors Police praised the swift response of security staff in restoring order, while the investigation into Monheit’s motives continues. He now faces charges including trespassing and carrying a concealed firearm.
