The British Army has successfully tested a Radiofrequency Directed Energy Weapon (RF DEW) capable of simultaneously neutralizing multiple drone swarms using high-frequency radio waves. In recent field tests, this innovative system took out 100 drones in a single trial, demonstrating its potential to defend against the growing drone threat in modern warfare.
The RF DEW, developed under Project Ealing, operates at a remarkably low cost of just 10 pence (approximately 13 cents) per shot and can engage targets from a distance of up to one kilometer (0.62 miles). This automated system requires only one operator and provides a crucial layer of protection for both military installations and civilian air traffic against increasingly common drone incursions.
