The Chicago Sports Alliance (CSA), comprising the city’s major sports teams including the Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls, announces a significant investment of $1.5 million aimed at combating gun violence across Chicago. This funding supports three dedicated organizations: Chicago CRED, Metropolitan Family Services, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, bringing CSA’s total contributions to an impressive $11.75 million since its inception in 2017.
This year’s grant will specifically fund programs targeting educational and mental health initiatives for at-risk communities, particularly vulnerable women and families. Notably, the Chicago CRED’s Southside Women’s Program offers critical support in education and financial literacy to young women at risk of gun violence. With community safety central to their mission, CSA aims to utilize its influence to foster awareness and investment in effective solutions addressing this urgent issue.
