Tyrell Anthony West, a 30-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., is sentenced to two years in federal prison for possessing a loaded Glock semiautomatic handgun as a convicted felon. West’s conviction stems from an incident on February 26, 2024, when Metropolitan Police officers noticed him behaving suspiciously as he exited a vehicle reported stolen, leading to the discovery of the firearm and illegal narcotics inside the car.
The case underscores the collaborative efforts of local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Alongside the firearm, officers uncovered over 80 grams of a white rock substance later identified as narcotics, raising concerns over ongoing drug-related violence in the area. West’s sentence includes an additional three years of supervised release after his prison term, as detailed by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
