An Eau Claire resident, Jayden Cadmus, 17, is charged with multiple felonies after allegedly ordering kits to convert legal firearms into fully automatic weapons. Under federal scrutiny, Cadmus faces four counts related to machine gun possession and one charge of bail jumping stemming from a previous misdemeanor case that restricted his contact with specific individuals.
Authorities were tipped off by Homeland Security after Customs intercepted a package addressed to Cadmus under a false name, which contained components for converting guns. Despite denying ownership, Cadmus admitted that the package would likely reveal evidence of him using firearms, especially after police discovered the package alongside drug paraphernalia during a search of his residence. He is currently held on a $5,000 cash bond, with a preliminary hearing postponed to July 22.
