Lake Mattoon Waterfowl Hunting Applications Open Soon

Applications for the exclusive 2025 waterfowl hunting drawing at Lake Mattoon are due by 4 p.m. on July 28. The city offers 12 designated duck blind locations, and interested hunters must be at least 18 years old and residents of Coles, Cumberland, or Shelby counties to apply.

Each application carries a non-refundable fee of $50 and requires proof of a valid hunting license and waterfowl stamp upon submission. The drawing itself is scheduled for 5 p.m. on August 5 at the Lake Mattoon Beach Pavilion, presenting an exciting opportunity for local hunters to secure their spot for the season.
