Republicans in Congress are poised to make significant changes to gun regulations, targeting several of President Biden’s policies as they gain full control of the legislative process. With plans to utilize the Congressional Review Act, GOP lawmakers aim to overturn existing rules, including a controversial regulation on firearms with stabilizing braces that critics argue violates Second Amendment rights.
As part of these efforts, House Republicans are filing multiple bills related to gun policy, including measures to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and to restrict federal funding for state “red flag” laws. Rep. Robert B. Aderholt highlighted the potential for success this time around, stating, “I think it’s very ripe that we can get some of that language this time,” as GOP senators urge the ATF to align its rules with a pro-gun agenda.
