Charlotte Man Sentenced for Mail Theft, Gun Charges

A Charlotte man, Montavius Hancock, is sentenced to four years in prison for stealing mail using a master key and possessing an illegal firearm. On January 13, 2024, Hancock was caught with stolen mail containing checks valued at over $400,000 from various locations around the city, raising serious concerns about mail theft and its implications for local residents.

In addition to the mail theft, Hancock, a convicted felon, also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun possession among individuals with prior felony convictions. His arrest on December 22, 2023, pointed to a troubling pattern of criminal behavior that the authorities are working to address.
