Kennedy Introduces Body Armor Bill Honoring Aaron Salter, Jr.

Congressman Tim Kennedy introduces the Aaron Salter, Jr. Responsible Body Armor Possession Act, a bill aiming to prohibit civilians from owning or selling enhanced military-grade body armor. The legislation is named in honor of Aaron Salter, Jr., a former Buffalo police lieutenant and Lockport resident who was tragically killed during a mass shooting in May 2022.

During a recent press event in Washington D.C., Kennedy emphasized the need for sensible gun violence prevention measures, citing the impact of body armor in mass shooting scenarios. He stands alongside gun violence prevention activists and community leaders from Western New York to advocate for this necessary step in enhancing public safety. This legislative move underscores ongoing efforts to address the growing concerns surrounding civilian access to military-grade equipment.
