The increase in incidents involving machineguns has surged by 1,400% from 2019 to 2021, showing alarming trends in firearm misuse. Campbell and her fellow attorneys general argue that the ATF’s new directive to halt enforcement of existing bans and redistribute these devices jeopardizes public safety and contradicts federal law, prompting them to seek an immediate preliminary injunction to prevent further action.
