A Missouri man, Dennis Latour, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after swindling would-be cannabis investors out of $822,000. Between June 2022 and September 2023, Latour misled two victims into believing he was a successful cannabis entrepreneur, ultimately leaving one with a loss of nearly $713,000. His fraudulent activities funded a lavish lifestyle bolstered by the illegal purchase of firearms, which he acquired despite being a convicted felon.
During a search warrant execution by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), law enforcement discovered 27 firearms stored in Latour’s home, including a Barrett .50-caliber rifle. His former partner, Jennifer Keegan, also faces consequences for her role in helping him obtain these weapons. Latour’s case forms part of a broader initiative aimed at combating gun violence, highlighting the ongoing efforts to enforce strict penalties against such crimes.
