Moberly Man Charged for Pointing Gun at Youths

A 58-year-old man from Moberly, Jeffery O’Neal, has been charged with illegal gun possession and unlawful use of a weapon after allegedly pointing a rifle at two youths riding a four-wheeler on a trail. The incident occurred when the vehicle broke down, prompting one of the children to attempt a restart before fleeing as O’Neal reportedly picked up the gun sitting nearby and aimed it at them.

According to law enforcement, O’Neal admitted that the gun was loaded and claimed he was using a “firing range” when he encountered the children, who were on a trail they were allowed to be on. As a convicted felon, O’Neal is prohibited from possessing firearms and is currently held at the Randolph County Jail on a $10,000 bond, awaiting a court date.
