Notably, New Zealand lacks regulations that mandate guns to contain sufficient metal for detection, a standard followed in countries like the US. With public submissions on reforms to the Arms Act closing soon, experts warn that without swift legislative action, the ghost gun market may expand, complicating law enforcement efforts and endangering community safety.
