Oakwood Man Arrested After Armed Robbery Attempt

A 29-year-old man from Oakwood, Douglas Arnell Ward, Jr., faces serious charges after allegedly attempting to rob a convenience store in Gainesville on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at the Texaco store on Browns Bridge Road, where Ward reportedly brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, who promptly activated a security protocol by alerting the police.

Authorities quickly responded and used surveillance footage to identify Ward, leading to his arrest later that day on Industrial Boulevard. He is currently held at the Hall County Jail without bond on multiple charges, including armed robbery and aggravated assault, raising questions about the safety of convenience store employees in the area.
