A police chase in Chicago stemming from an armed robbery early Thursday morning concludes with a shooting involving Chicago police and three individuals in custody. Shortly before 3 a.m., Illinois State Police initiated a pursuit of a red Dodge linked to the robbery attempt, which ultimately halted in the city’s Austin neighborhood. As suspects fled on foot, law enforcement managed to apprehend them, though the situation escalated with an officer-involved shooting under investigation by the Chicago Office of Police Accountability (COPA).
As authorities worked on the scene at 200 S. Cicero Ave., a heavy police presence blocked traffic and rerouted nearby CTA buses. Later reports indicated that an officer accidentally discharged their firearm during the arrest process, but no one was injured. Two suspects and one officer were taken to hospitals for observation as police recover a weapon from the scene, with charges pending against the apprehended individuals.
