Efrain Jacobo, a 42-year-old Prospect Heights resident, is charged in federal court with trafficking firearms and drugs, including methamphetamine and fentanyl. According to court documents, Jacobo allegedly sold a semi-automatic rifle, six handguns, and a variety of drugs to undercover federal agents over multiple meetings since last October.
The investigation unveiled a significant drug operation, with agents intercepting a shipment containing 160 kilograms of meth concealed in pallets of landscaping bricks. In addition to the firearms sales, authorities discovered over 400 grams of fentanyl and cocaine stored in a Wheeling storage unit linked to Jacobo. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with a court date scheduled for March 5.
