Queens Brothers Admit Guilt in Weapons Case

Two brothers from Astoria, Andrew and Angelo Hatziagelis, plead guilty to a series of weapons charges after law enforcement discovered a cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and untraceable firearms in their apartment. Following a court-authorized search on January 17, 2024, authorities uncovered not only live explosives but also a “hit list” targeting police and public officials, raising serious concerns about public safety and potential violence.

The investigation began in 2020 when suspicious firearm parts purchases were flagged, leading to a multi-agency effort that included the NYPD and federal authorities. The brothers are set for sentencing on June 2, with Andrew facing a maximum of 10 years and Angelo up to four years in prison. The case highlights the dangers posed by ghost guns and IEDs, as well as the proactive measures taken by law enforcement to intercept potential threats before they escalate.
