A Rochester man, Liban Abdikadar Abdullahi, is sentenced to five years in federal prison following a plea deal related to gun and drug offenses. Abdullahi, previously charged with multiple counts including possession of a firearm as a felon and intent to distribute fentanyl, ultimately pleaded guilty to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. His other charges were dismissed as part of the agreement with federal prosecutors.
Federal authorities revealed that Abdullahi carried a 9mm Glock pistol during drug trafficking activities, which included possessing fentanyl with distribution intent. Given the absence of parole in the federal system, Abdullahi will also face three years of supervised release following his incarceration, emphasizing the serious repercussions of firearm-related crime in conjunction with drug offenses.
