A second arrest has been made in connection with the violent robbery of Montgomery businessman Jim Massey, as 57-year-old Spencer “Dragon” Thomas faces federal charges for armed robbery and carjacking. Thomas was apprehended in Las Vegas and is linked to the March 10 attack, where Massey was bound, beaten, and forced to open a safe containing $6,000 to $8,000. Previously arrested was 58-year-old Zedekiah Sykes, who allegedly orchestrated the robbery after months of planning, according to authorities.
The robbery unfolded when Massey encountered four assailants disguised as construction workers, resulting in a traumatic ordeal that included physical assault and theft. Investigators have gathered substantial evidence against Thomas, including forensic links to items found in his apartment that connect him to the crime. Both suspects face potential sentences of up to 25 years in federal prison, with Thomas scheduled for arraignment on June 17.
